How To Make More Sales In Your Candle Business
Sales are the lifeline of any business. After all, making sales is the main way that you can boost your income and revenue as a business owner. But how can you make more of them? Whether you’re an aspiring candle business owner or you’ve already launched your business and you’re looking for ways to grow, this post will have some helpful tips for you.
Every entrepreneur has asked themselves how they can increase sales at some point in their careers. Revisiting your approach to sales and adjusting it accordingly is a good way to maintain growth and keep your business moving in the right direction. But let’s face it, the question itself is very vague. That’s what can make it so frustrating for small business owners.
The good news is that there are tons of different options for increasing your sales as a small business owner. In this post, I’m going to break it down for you so that you can tailor a solution to your business. Let’s get started!
Breaking It Down
When you ask yourself the question, “How do I get more sales?” you’re left with a variety of options that are just as broad as asking someone, “What do you want to eat for dinner?” If you want to find a solution to the question, you will need to break it down.
Instead of racking your brain to find an answer to the broad question, start by finding an answer to these three questions:
- Where do you want to get those sales from?
- Who do you want to get those sales from?
- What action plans can you take to increase sales?
Once you have answered each of these questions specifically, you will be left with a clear idea of how you can increase your sales. Keep in mind that it is essential to work backward to find your ideal customer before you can identify a marketing strategy. If you’re looking for more information on this, I have discussed the topic in detail in one of my YouTube videos, which you can find here.
At the end of the day, you will have to complete an action in order to get sales. Although it would be great to be able to post your products online and wait for the sales to start rolling in, that’s not how it works. Setting up a marketing plan is essential. The good news is that there are so many different options when it comes to marketing your product.
If you’re anything like me, looking at these questions just isn’t enough. That’s why I’ve gone into more detail about how you can apply each one to your small business.
Where Do You Want Sales to Come From?
When I am looking to increase my sales, I start by asking myself where I want those sales to come from. Sales can come from a variety of sources: Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, local, wholesale, and the list goes on. That’s why it’s important to narrow this question down even further.
For example, when I was working through this question recently, I sat down and asked myself, “How can I get more local sales?” Obviously, the methods for landing local sales are very different from pulling in new sales from social media, so this cuts out a lot of unnecessary strategies right off the bat.
Who Do you Want Sales to Come From?
Once you know where you want your sales to come from, you can continue narrowing down by asking yourself who in particular you would like to sell to in your local market. What does an increase in local sales look like to you?
For my business, the answer to this question includes selling to more people in the local community. I want more people to know about my brand, recognize it, and make repurchases. I also want them to tell their friends and family about my product. By setting specific goals for my business, I am able to narrow down my options for some marketing strategies that might work for me. This brings us to the next question.
What Action Plans Can You Take to Boost Sales?
Now that you know who and where you want your sales to come from, you’re ready to look at some potential actions you can take to start encouraging more sales. Simply knowing who and where you want sales to come from isn’t enough to increase them. However, the answers to those questions will help you identify a solid plan of action.
In my case, I needed to look at potential actions that could boost my sales locally through brand recognition and word of mouth. The solution for this was to attend more local markets and collect email addresses from local customers. Attending local markets is a great way to boost brand recognition and encourage people to tell their friends and family about your business. I also set up a separate email marketing group for my local customer base to keep them coming back for more as repeat customers.
How Will You Ignite Your Sales?
As you can see, the question of “How can I increase sales?” is very broad and can be confusing to answer. Thankfully, by following these simple steps, you can narrow down what a boost in sales looks like to you and use that image to determine a solid plan of action.
